Our little man arrived!
On the 30th March I was induced and we eventually got to meet Lochlan at 11:15am on the 31st March. After being called into the hospital to get my induction started at 1pm we found ourselves waiting and watching woman after woman arriving in labour and being rushed in front of us.. turns out that every woman in the neighbourhood decided that they also wanted to have their babies at the same time as me 😂 it was a long and drawn out wait! By around 7pm I finally got told to “come through and get started” . I was 2cm when they broke my waters and at around 9pm the oxytocin drip began. She cranked up the drip to the maximum amount after a couple of hours and I thought to myself, okay this is sort of painful but I can totally handle it. After 1200am I was in established labour 4/10mins contractions.. things changed! It was intensely painful 😖 I was trying
to stay active and use the ball, stand and get gravity on my side..at 4am I had been at it hardcore since midnight and when nurses came in and advise baby mustn’t be far away i thought okay I got this! Im ready to push him out! .. so they examine me and as I was showing all the ‘signs’, turns out I was had only dilating 1cm in 7hours ☹️😤 I died a thousand deaths and it broke me coz I knew I didn’t have the strength to get through god knows how many more hours, by the way I was slowly dilating. I decided it was time for an epidural.. I had a fantastic anaesthetist and she quickly provided me with the best pain relief of my life. 20 mins kicked on and all the pain had subsided, the bonus of such a good epidural given to me was that I was able to move my legs and still feel a bit of pressure when the contractions were coming.. this meant I could still move around a bit and push when I felt contractions coming 😌 I had a short cap nap and downside of having anaesthetic I was rudely awoke by dropping blood pressure and vomiting episodes 😫 and the having the shakes violently.. by 9:45am the muse came in and gave me the good news I would be able to start pushing soon! 🥳🥳🥳 by the time I was ready to push I was absolutely shattered! Pushing wasn’t a walk in the park.. it was a lot harder than I imagined it would be! But when I finally got to feel his little head of hair coming out it gave me the motivation I needed to do the last couple of squeezes and he arrived! All 9 pound 2 ounces of his adorable little self. Life has changed for the better and it’s tough going but I wouldn’t change it for the world 😍
