Objects to mouth

So baby girl is 7.5months. She loves sucking her thumb and eating her hand, but she will not bring anything else to her mouth. If I give her a teether she will throw it. If I put anything in her mouth (puff, teether, spoon, toy etc) she refuses to hold onto it. She will only "chew" on it if I'm holding it. I've tried letting it go, but it just drops. I've even tried bringing her hand to the object while it is in her mouth but she just screams bloody murder and won't hold it. I know babies develop at their own rate, but I was really hoping to do BLW with her (as I did it with my son) but it does require some effort on her part (i.e. bringing food to her mouth). I'm fine with doing traditional weaning with her, but I gave in and Googled this so now I feel like a terrible mom 😖
