Positive stories for not being dilated much?

Today’s my due date, I’m only 1cm dilated and 50% effaced and I’m really discouraged. 
Was anyone like this and didn’t go super far over your due date? I’m absolutely miserable 😭

Dilation before labor doesn't indicate anything at all. Position of your cervix before labor and effacement doesn't indicate anything prior to labor. Your cervix could be posterior, high, hard, 0% effaced and closed and 3 hours later you could be crowning during delivery. My MW hates doing cervical checks before you are in labor because it discourages Mamas so much. Its actually common in other countries not to be checked at all prior to labor due to the studies that prove that before labor, nothing matters! Baby could be completely breech and flip and slide into your birth canal in less than 5 minutes and start labor. Women walk around for weeks dilated at 4+cm with no labor. The best thing you can do is trust your body, try and release any tension you have, and get into a positive mindspace. You got this Mama!

I had an appointment on Friday morning and my cervix was completely closed.... went into labor that night and he was born Saturday....so it’s really not a good indicator

I'm in your exact spot at my last appointment (39W) I was only 1cm and 50% as well I'm due the 23 and my dr said you can go any day I dont think you'll make it to your next appointment, well that appointment is the 22nd and I'm still pregant

With my first at 40+1 I was 1cm dilated and about 50% effaced, I went into labour that night and gave birth the next night.

I haven’t had this exact situation but I’ll tell you my experience.
With my three-year-old I was dilated to 7 cm at 35 weeks and went into labor at 37 weeks. 
With my two year old I was dilated to 4 cm at 36 weeks and had him at 38 1/2 weeks. 
So with my last pregnancy (i’m two weeks postpartum) I would go in expecting to be at least as dilated as one of those pregnancies prior and nothing. At my last visit before my doctor stop seeing patients due to the virus I was about 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced. ￼￼￼￼￼￼ I was like oh Snap I’m never gonna have this child. ￼ I didn’t have any more cervical checks after that because the doctor stopped seeing patients and starting doing phone appointments. I did carry that baby longer than any baby which was 39 weeks and five days. So I went from basically nothing to delivering the baby myself in my car while my husband drove to the hospital because the labor was fast. I think that’s a fair trade￼￼￼

With my second I was barely a 1 and only soft at 40+3. I went into labor overnight and had a super fast labor. I went from a 5 to a 10 in 2 contractions.
