Uk ladies! Are you having cervical check?

Question

I’m 35+3 and haven’t been checked before, keep seeing women saying they’ve been checked at appointments and just wondering if I should be checked?

My midwife (I’m in Liverpool) said at the moment they’re offering sweeps from 38 weeks if baby’s head is engaged, and offering induction from the due date rather than you having to wait. Other than that, they won’t do any cervix checks or interventions unless medically necessary. Xxx

They don’t do cervical checks in U.K. until labour normally as it risks infection and doesn’t actually matter how dilated you are before you are in active labour

So in the uk with your first you get a sweep at 40 weeks and midwife told me last week at my 37 week appointment that with your second if all is ok they wont do a sweep till 41 weeks. Which I thought was really disheartening. I also carry big babys and I've tryed to push for induction and they wont do that unless there is a medical reason.

Mine is going to check me at my appointment on Thursday, but I'm also going to be scheduling my induction so they're checking because of that. Otherwise my doctor doesn't check unless you ask

I’ve asked about this... it’s not common practice in the UK unlike in the USA where they check cervix/dilation etc! We don’t tend to get checked until around 40 weeks x

I haven’t had one either I wonder when I will. I’m not seeing my midwife again until I’m around 36 weeks

I'm not from the UK but my next appointment on the 27th I'll have a cervical check, I'll be 36 weeks and 3 days. I'll also have my GBS test done.

In my experience they don’t go anywhere near your cervix till 40 week appointment here. That was certainly the case with my first baby as they wouldn’t do sweep till 40 weeks xx
