Waking 9 week old to eat?

Ok ladies my little one is 9 weeks old she has doubled her birth weight.  Her doctor says wale every 5 hours at night to eat but then I hear people say no way let them sleep they will wake when hungry.  My cousin is a pedi nurse said the same thing.  What are you ladies doing? I’d love to let her sleep u til she wakes up. This week I wouldn’t cause her eating has been awful thanks to what I believe is a leap week.  She only ate 20 ounces in 24 hours 😭 but tomorrow is a new day hoping it gets better.  Shots and leap week at once was a no go!

I’d let her sleep! My little one will eat right before bed, then go down for 5 hours, then wake up to eat, then back down for about 4 hours. During the day she’s eating every 3 hours. If baby is gaining weight fine, definitely let her sleep those long stretches at night!

Definitely let her sleep and follow her lead. :) If she is gaining fine, she will wake when hungry and eat what she needs to, trust her! If you're BFing and feel engorged overnight, feel free to pump -- that's what I was doing at times. And an average baby eats 2-2.5 oz per pound in a 24 hr period. :)

If the Dr has okayed feeding on demand I would let baby sleep. My little is 9 weeks old today and he has been sleeping 8+ hours a night since he was 5 weeks old. When we first brought him home he was extremely jaundice and they said we had to feed every 2 hours and if he didn't wake on his own to wake him but after about 10 days they cleared him to feed on demand and the first few days were transitional and he started waking himself every 3 hours or so. Then at about 3.5 week he was sleeping 5 hours at night then by week 5 he was to 8 hours. The first night it really freaked me out and I actually called the nurses line and asked if I needed to wake him to feed cause that is a long time to go without eating for their little bodies but she said that his body will wake him when he is hungry and said that it was okay to let him sleep so we have been ever since.

I would let her sleep. My doctor told me once my daughter returned to her original birth weight after she left the hospital that we could stop waking her to eat (which I truthfully never did to begin with). She’s always been healthy and happy with how we’ve been doing things 🤷‍♀️ she also sleeps during the night from like 10pm-3am, sometimes 11pm-5am then she’ll eat and sleep until 730am ish and she’ll be awake after that for the day until her next nap.

My 2 month old is gaining the recommended 4-7oz a week and is eating every 2-2.5 hours during the day, then he will sleep for 8-9 hours at night and wakes me up at 4:45-5am each morning for breakfast. You better believe I let him sleep! I know how unusual that is for his age but I am going to enjoy it while I can.

I would let her sleep. I haven’t woken my son up since he got back to birth weight. As long as she’s gaining weight, she’ll tell you when she’s hungry.

When my LOs are making it through the night without a feed I let them sleep. I have a friend who was told to wake every 3 hours to feed (even though her baby was gaining weight fine & had no medical issues) & it took for ever for her daughter to sleep through the night (she’s 3 now & they still have issues most nights) 
My 10 week old has been sleeping through the night the last 4 nights straight & I am not complaining!

My daughter is 11 weeks and she'll go up to 6 hours at night sometimes before eating.  She's always been a good sleeper at night.  Usually makes up for it in the mornings.   She's gaining weight just fine.  My son was actually up every 2-3 hours every night when he was her age and she is the exact same size he was at this age.  I'd let her sleep!
