At what age should a kid be allowed to cook on a stovetop by themselves?

I think once they’ve been taught. I don’t there’s an age, but obviously the parents should use their best and safest judgement.

I wouldn't want a 9yo cooking on the stove or oven unsupervised, but if an adult is around and they knew how to be safe, they would be fine. That's how my parents handled cooking and baking.

My 2 year old cooks for us all the time! I’d say she’s got a pretty good menu lined up to become a chef someday 👍🏻

I would say 8-10 if a parent or someone who can supervise is home. Otherwise, I wouldn’t really want my child cooking home alone until high school age.

I think it depends on the kid...I was allowed to use the oven/stove alone at like 8/9 years old probably, but I knew what I was doing because I was always in the kitchen helping my mom and learning

My 9.5 year old stepson is just starting to cook things in the toaster oven & microwave but he definitely still needs supervision as I have caught him trying to microwave something wrapped in foil & trying to heat up something on a plastic plate in the toaster oven. My guess is he won’t be doing anything on the stove by himself until his teens. 
I was probably around 11 years old when I started cooking basic things on the stove as that’s when I started babysitting kids from my church. I remember learning how to make Kraft Mac n Cheese while babysitting :) 
I would say I didn’t really cook real food until I was 18 years old, I still have a picture I took of the ham, peas & cheesey rice I made the 1st time I tried to cook a whole meal, I was super proud 😁

My mum worked a whole lot when I was a kid so I was cooking unsupervised from about 10-11. 
Never burnt down the house so that was a bonus
