Are you in the room when baby has their shots?

I was chatting with a friend the other day, our babies are a few months apart anyways she mentioned that when her baby has shots she leaves the room because her doctor told her she shouldn’t be around because the baby will associate the pain with her and may become detached. Her husband stays in the room but stands off in the corner.

I found this super odd, I know I can’t protect my baby from every pain I may even cause him pain accidentally but I sure as heck want him to know I’ll do whatever I can to try and make it better. Scooping him up off the table right after his shots usually calms him right down, I can’t imagine leaving him to his own devices. I’m just curious what everyone else’s take is on this
