Can my pill stop my periods

So ive been on my pill 3 years now because in the past my periods were irregular for a long time, my periods are now reguar apart from the odd time its changed days, so ive missed it by 2 days this month but ive taken my pill religiously and used something extra, so my question is can the pill randomly cause a period to stop after 3 years of taking it?
