Has anyone removed their own coil?

Hi ladies. I have a copper iud and was due to have it removed due to it causing irregular bleeding and constant cramps plus backache.. obviously due to the covid 19 situation my appointment was cancelled.. I was going to have a go at taking it out myself?! Has anyone else done this and tips? I know its probably not recommended (in uk) but I just want it gone I'm done with this pain and bleeding..

I had the copper IUD and I was having issues like you did. I went in to get it removed because I couldn't handle it anymore. I would have 14+ days of bleeding every 28 days start to start. I went in and the lady tried to remove it and she was having a hard time. I finally had a ultrasound and found out it has implanted into my uterus lining!!! I had to have it surgically removed. Please please please do not try to remove it yourself! Especially if your having side effects already. Those side effects could be from something WAY bigger. Not to mention even if you if it didn't implant into your uterus, they use gel to help you dilate to get it inserted or removed.

I DO NOT recommend removing it yourself.
I removed mine 2 years ago after having sex one night and shortly after it felt like it was stabbing me!! I couldn't really walk without pain and I started to bleed (it was pretty rough sex but it wasn't unusual for us so not sure why it moved) so I looked up how to do it and did it myself BUT I went to see my doctor the very next day. Luckily in my case, removing it at home was the best idea because it indeed stabbed my cervix. So painful.
Definitely see your doctor.
