Anyone with a 7yo or above child who has ADHD??? I need help 🤦🏾‍♂️

I love my kid. But honestly this home schooling is making me wanna give up. He wont focus, meds have increased 3 times already and I feel like a failure because I know I'm not qualified enough to help him. I'm trying patience, I'm trying to help. But hes like a zombie who cant stay still and cant focus for more than a few seconds.. I love him but I need help from experienced mamas.. hes already failed 1st grade because he cant read and this fucking virus shut school down.

My daughter's hyperactivity isn't as bad as your sons from the sounds of it, so we haven't been having as many issues. But some things that may help are if you have a yoga ball, he could sit on that while doing his work to bounce on to help with the extra energy. And frequent breaks to play. Makes the school work take longer, but may help him focus better. Try high sensory activities like spinning, jumping, hanging upside down, etc

Make sure he’s getting plenty of outside play time and remember this isn’t his fault. I know it’s hard but don’t take it out on him (not saying you are) but he’s little. I have a very hyperactive 7 yo but never diagnosed with anything. It’s also very normal for this age. Try to remember he will reach goals and pushing him to the limit where it’s frustrating both of you isn’t worth it. Take a breath and relax and take it day by day.

Make learning fun and active instead of formal table learning all the time. If his worksheet is math problems then turn it into some kind of game with the math problems. Once he solves the answer in the game then he writes in the answer for the problem then on to the next one in the game (ex: put numbers on targets on a fence or wall and let him shoot for the answer with a nerf gun, or put them in baskets and let him throw a ball into the basket with the answer). This way he is practicing the concept and skill rather than always being at the table fighting it. He will retain more and enjoy it!
