Ophthalmic Assistant
Are there any ophthalmic assistants on here? I’m in the interviewing process for an OA position and I’m not sure how much the salary should be. I’ve done research and it seems to vary a ton. I know it can vary depending on where you live (state, city, town, etc.) but I looked up the average and I’ve seen that the avg is $16.08 an hr. I told them that I would be looking to get paid the avg or close to the avg, and the woman interviewing me said I won’t get paid that until I’m fully trained. That’s fair considering I have less than a year of experience, but I’m over qualified education wise and she never actually told me how long training would take and what I could expect my salary to be until I’m trained. I have another interview where I plan on asking those questions, but I wanted to know if there were any ophthalmic assistants on here that could help me. Is $16.08 an hour normal salary? What did you start out with? Do you like your job? Any other pointers you have liked to know before taking the job? I could use some help, please leave respectful comments. Thank you
