Accidentally encouraging co-sleeping
When my baby was a newborn he would sleep in bed with us occasionally, but only to get him to sleep. For the majority of his sleep career, he’s slept in the bassinet beside us.
I started going back to work about 2 weeks ago. One of the first mornings my baby woke up an hour before my alarm. He wasn’t hungry, just wanted to be held. So I snuggled with him in my bed until my alarm went off. It was an amazing feeling. I really enjoyed it because I work for 10 hours a day, and don’t get to see him as often.
Well, he also was going through the 4 month sleep turnover. Recently, he will refuse to sleep in his bassinet unless he falls asleep in our arms first. And he has started waking up early every morning just for snuggles.
He still sleeps in the bassinet all night, but with the cuddles in the morning and night make me worried we’ll be going backwards. We’re planning at around 6 months to switch him to the crib, but I’m worried these snuggles will make it harder.
Side note, I’m not complaining about getting snuggles in the morning. I absolutely love them. He sleeps on his side while I sleep on my back to prevent anything. Also I wake up with the slightest movement.
