Hey guys, my eleven month old female puppy (she will always be a puppy to me, even when she’s 15) constantly licks her downstairs (vulva). I know she does it after she pees to clean herself, but she will lick herself just randomly, very frequently. A lot of the google search results are quite daunting and they generally leap to conclusions that frighten me. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this with their dogs and what it may be.

My concern is if there’s something wrong with her? Or am I overreacting and this is normal?

UPDATE: Thanks to those who helped out! We took her to the vet and it turns out she’s got an extra little bit of skin that may be contributing to her licking. She also may have an infection so she’s been put on steroids and medication to help her.
