Are maternity photos a waste of money?

I want to have Maternity photos done! But I’m conflicted, I know my husband would think it was stupid, they’re expensive, and to find a photographer now is next to impossible. 
Any thoughts or ideas?

I ended up paying $1000 for edit and prints of my maternity pictures. So yes I thought it was expensive and that I’d never do it again. 
I think the experience is worth it but if I could do it again I’d look for a more affordable photographer or do a diy Photoshoot. 
My sister in law who is expecting recently bought a back drop, a photo light from amazon and is taking pictures of herself.

I felt it was a waste so I didn’t do it with my first pregnancy and I have no regrets. I’d rather save the money for newborn photos

Its a personal choice. 
I 5hink its the biggest waste. I don't need to spend xx amounts of money to get a dress and any stand around fat and awkward 😆 plus I wouldn't share those photos with people or hang then up as decor in my house. 
I took one nice photo of myself in front of the Christmas tree with my phone on a timer and I was good with it. 
This pregnancy ill once again probably take one or maybe two home done photos just because my son is really interested in the baby and I'm sure as I grown he will get more excited.

I really want to have maternity photos done. To save money we had a friend who was an up and coming wedding photographer do our wedding, and looking back I wish we had some something more professional. At the time we couldn't afford it. For me maternity photos are something I really want. I think in this day and age where everyone has cameras on their phones professional photos aren't given as much thought, but they make a difference. However it's totally up to you, it's a matter of if you actually want them or not.

I dont regret not doing them with either of my kids. Im not going to hang them around my house or anything. I spent the money for newborn pics.

No! I loved doing mine & I’m bummed I’m unable to do them again with my second. 
They are for me, I have them in my home. Not a waste of money if you enjoy them.

I haven’t done maternity photos for all three pregnancies with no regrets. I’d rather not spend all of that money to dress up in a gown to show off to other people. My kids don’t seem to care about the photos. I didn’t go out and do newborn photos either. I just take pictures like crazy on my phone myself in their natural habitat. Lol. My husband also thinks it’s a waste of money.

Do them, you will regret not having those memories. I’m sure there is some grad student out there that would still be willing to photograph if you can stay 6 ft away from them which shouldn’t be a problem if they’re behind the camera. That’s what I did and I only paid like $150 for my engagement photos last year and I think they turned out great.
