Rice cereal in breast milk?

When do you guys plan on giving your little one rice cereal in a bottle my mom says she started doing that at￼ 12 weeks he is strictly breast-fed he wakes up so much in the middle of the night to eat and my mom recommended I put that in his milk to keep him full what do u guys think I’ve never heard of it he’s going to be 3 months in 4 days ￼

Rice cereal or the oatmeal cereal will not harm your baby! My baby will be 3 months in 5 days and he has been given oatmeal in his bottle (rice makes him puke) since he was 3 weeks old. Some moms are literally hypochondriacs🤦🏼‍♀️ all it does it makes their milk slightly thicker so it sits on their stomachs better.

Breastfed babies are suppose to wake up more than formula fed babies because breast milk digests easier; it’s natural. I will not be giving any rice/oatmeal cereal because it serves no nutritional value . It’s simply an empty filler that clutters the babies stomach. Before doing my research I did try it with our second LO and it did NOT make her sleep longer .

No. They don’t recommend doing that anymore. With my daughter I started giving cereal and purées at 6 months with a spoon.

This should only be done per the instructions of your pediatrician and even then some people think it’s dangerous. The pediatrician is going to advise you against this unless your baby has reflux or a weight issue. I would try to get baby to eat more during the day to try to help with the sleep.

I’ve always heard that baby’s especially that young wake up to stop themselves from going into too deep of a sleep and it reduces the chance of sids. That alone made me stop caring about being up throughout the night feeding. I know that in different areas we are all told different things but I was also told that I the first year of breastfeeding it’s really important to strictly feed your baby breastmilk no other foods until that year unless you aren’t planning to that long. It’s so exhausting though I understand 😩 We’ll get through it. 💕

My baby has acid reflux, his pedi told us we could use 1tsp per every 2oz. Of either formula or breast milk.
