At 18 months i noticed my toddler to started get attached to her paci, We gave it to her when she was a baby and mainly it was for naps, sleep time and car rides and to calm down. But 2 months ago she got attached when being home using it all the time. She was in daycare from January and I had told them only use it for naps and they told me that’s what they do. Since being home from daycare after they been closed now for 1.5 months now when she wakes up she’s been better the last 2 weeks she gives it to me and says “dirty” and is only using it for nap and bed time. I tried last week to not use it for naps she cried and cried and eventually it took her 2 hours to nap when I finally gave in. Tried again other day my husband went in after half an hour. I tried again now and she balled her eyes out so i went In. Today I let her take her doll w her to nap to see if that would help but didn’t. I am not sure what the best way to remove it for sleep. The last few walks we went on with her stroller she didn’t ask for it so it seemed like an improvement and we went for a drive on the weekend she didn’t ask for it but she was crying over something else toward the end so we gave it to her. I don’t know how to deal w taking it away I don’t want her not to sleep or a repeat of a delayed 2 hour nap. also, I just had baby #2. 6 weeks ago so my friend said I should wait it out a bit more bc of the adjustment to the baby or I should have tried 2 months before she was born.
