Move baby to own room after move? Or wait?

Our son is currently 4 months old and we live in a 2 bedroom apartment, but we’ll be moving out of state when he is about 9-10 months old (hopefully to a house, but possibly an apartment for a short time then a house). He sleeps in a playard in our room and we plan to keep him there until we move and will buy him a crib when we get there.

When we move, should we bite the bullet and just make the big move of putting him in his own room right away so we don’t need to break habits? Or will it be too scary/new of an experience that we should keep him in our room and slowly transition him to his own later?
