Does your baby sleep with a night light?

Question

I’m just curious how everyone’s baby is sleeping if they’re in their own room. My baby monitor app is telling me that ideal conditions are as dark as possible, but I’m afraid that if I do that, she won’t be able to sleep with ambient light if we ever traveled or went somewhere that wasn’t “home”.

Supposedly you aren’t supposed to use a nightlight. Babies are too young to be afraid of the dark. Pitch black helps them sleep longer and better

We use the hatch... and it’s set to very low light in red (red supposedly doesn’t effect sleep)

Baby is still in our room, and my wife has a condition with her inner ears, so needs a night light. If she wakes up and it’s pitch black she becomes very dizzy. Once our daughter goes into her own room, it’ll be completely dark

We keep the bathroom light on and leave the door open a little.  How does anyone change nappies/feed/check on baby in the pitch black?!

We always did bright lights during the day and dark as could be at night. She knows when it’s daytime and when it’s nighttime due to that. And she never has problems napping in the bright light. Actually we had to start leaving the light on while I feed her at night before bed because she was falling asleep part way through and not finishing her bottle. It gave us a few extra minutes lmao but she still would fall asleep with the light on.

We don't have a nightlight, but we do have a humidifier that has a pretty bright light on the button/display which makes it not completely dark. We do have blackout shades that make it very dark during the day, but they do have little gaps on the sides so it's not pitch black for naps. 
For traveling, there are travel blackout shades you use suction cups to attach to windows.

I have the hatch on orange in our room then covered with a cloth. He sleeps the same with it on or off I just keep it on because he fusses on and off throughout the night and sometimes needs his pacifier so it’s easier to see. My phone has a timer so it shuts off before I need it too sometimes and red was ideal but too dark for me to see him.

My daughter just started sleeping in her own room a few nights ago and we don’t leave a night light in but the camera for her monitor and her humidifier have indicator lights that glow all night. Also the moon shines through her blinds if it isn’t cloudy. If she gets up during the night I have a remote controlled color changing led bulb in her lamp that I use and isn’t too bright.

We have a night light because when we go in the room to check on him, we can see everything. So when he needs to be fed, we can keep the room dark to help him fall back asleep faster. We have a night light in our room, so he’s used to the mostly dark room from when he’s sleeping in our room.
