Babies on dental insurance?

My twins will be born during open enrollment for my work insurance. Do i add them to the dental policy now? Or wait until next year when they have teeth?

My son didn’t go to the dentist until after a year. Also, his cleanings are cheaper than dental premiums so I haven’t added him yet and he’s 3.

I added mine as soon as they were born. It was easier since that was a major life event and I didn’t have to wait for open enrollment. And they start getting teeth within a year.. I didn’t bring my oldest to the dentist until 2, but my second had an appointment at 18 months. I figured if anything happens with their mouth or teeth and I needed to go in, better safe than sorry.

I’m not adding my baby to my dental insurance for a few years. It’s cheaper to pay for the one or two visits out of pocket than the monthly premium.

I waited to add my kids, but dental insurance through my work is cheap, so I will be adding my new baby as soon as they are born. I think it’s just a personal choice

I don’t even have dental insurance for myself...it’s cheaper to pay out of pocket than the premium. Unless your teeth are really bad and need lots of work

I did. I took her every 6 months. She’s almost 9 and still no cavities! I think it’s great to get the family into a routine and plus in case of an emergency so if it’s something you are able to do then I’d suggest it. Whatever you feel is best!

Does your health insurance not cover kids under 19? In my state kids don’t need separate dental insurance. Everything’s included under health.
