How long did/does your newborn stay awake for?

I have a 9 day old baby and everything I read says they sleep for 16 hours plus and are awake for about 45 mins at a time. But my baby is just not like that at all! The shortest amount of time she's been awake is about an hour and a half but it's normally longer. She's not fussing or crying but not asleep either. Once she wakes I feed her (always hungry!) and change her etc and try and get her back to sleep within the hour but she's just never tired enough. She does have decent sleeps of up to 4 hours but hasn't managed anywhere near 16 hours total in a day yet... 12 hours total is her max. 
Is this normal? Any suggestions? She's putting on weight fine and plenty of normal nappies. She seems happy.

My 4 week old is the same and I was wondering the same thing! I tried everything but she just always awake for at least 4 hours during day! 😫

My son is 5 months now but when he was newborn he's stay awake for anything up to 6/7 hours at a time without a nap. He was just too nosey to sleep😂
