Okay so my boyfriend is a year younger than me and I’m going to turn 18 in a couple months. I’ve thought about this a couple time now and he turns 18 until I’ve already turned 19 and it just seems wrong to be in a relationship like that. I don’t want to be judged or criticized about it but I love him and I don’t know what to do. My father already criticizes me about it but I don’t pay attention to him because he dated my mom when she was 16 and he was 25 so his opinion doesn’t matter to me but others opinion does. I don’t know what to do.

I just turned 14 and my boyfriends turning 18 in October there is nothing for you to be ashamed of hunny you love who you want to. Love has no age!!!!

At 14, you’re most likely a freshman in highschool. At 18 you’re most likely a senior in highschool who’s had a full highschool experience. The only time a 4 year difference doesn’t matter as much (maturity speaking) is when say a 24 year old is with a 28 year old etc.

There is a maturity difference between a 10 year old and a 14 year old. There’s also a big difference between a 14 year old and an 18 year old. That’s exactly what I was saying.

Have you talked to him about it? Like tbh you're like, a year apart. Its not that big of a deal. You dated before either of you turned 18 and you're both within 2 years of age from each other. Like I get it's because 18 is considered an "adult", but there really shouldn't be so much fuss about it. If you talk to him about this, at least make it known how you feel about it. If you want to take a break until he turns 18, talk to him about why. If you decide to keep going after it, great for you.
