Postpartum period

How will I know if I had my period or if its just pp bleeding? I had my baby girl 7 weeks and 5 days ago and I didnt bleed much after birth, just a light to normal blood flow, it stoped about 5 or 6 weeks pp and started up again a couple of days ago but heavier this time.
