Idk what to do. Sick baby
Hey mamas, I just had a pretty negative experience.
Baby girl got her 4 month vaccines today at 9am. She did really well and was hardly fussy at all. I love her pediatrician. We were instructed to call them if she had a temperature any higher than 100.6.
Tonight I was holding her and she felt a bit feverish so we took her temperature with a rectal thermometer as instructed and it was at 100. Something (cant really remember now but not quite 100.6 yet) but her hands and feet felt like little ice cubes and the rest of her felt hot. So I called and they said to try to warm up her hands and feet and see how it goes and to give her tylenol to reduce her fever. Well me and my husband both held her hands for 2 hours and we waited for the tylenol to do its job. Her breathing seemed labored and fast and she felt even hotter so I redid her temperature and it was 102.7!!!
I decided that's it, were taking her into the ER. I wasent waiting to see if something bad would happen. So we bring her in, I explain her symptoms and were brought back to a room. The doctor takes her temperature (armpit) and they jook her up to the monitor and shes awake so her breathing is better.
They tell me since shes a girl, it's common for them to have UTI's and that vaccienes dont usually cause fevers that high. I was pretty sure it wasent a uti because she wasent fussy when she was peeing. And she seemed pretty normal as far as that goes, but I agree to do a cathader to test to see if that's what it is. (My poor baby 😭💔) they couldent get enough urine for both tests because she has JUST peed (and I told them that), so she had to wear a bag thing in her diaper after they tried to cath her
Meanwhile while we are waiting for the tests she starts dozing off and her o2 saturation drops down to 86 and the low saturation thing starts beeping for a little while And NOBODY comes in to check on her!🤔 I wake her up and her oxegen returns to normal. I mentioned it to the nurse when i hit the call button... and she unhooked her from the monitor! (I'm no doctor, but I think that's like the opposite thing you should do maybe...)
We were there less than 2 hours. And one of the urine tests came back negative and they said they would call me if the other one showed anything. So.... no other tests... no monitoring... nothing... I feel like I know my baby and something isnt right...
