Chicken developmen: the difference a day makes
Because of the size it is, I really think that it started to grow before I put it in the incubator. I did bring it in from the coop to the house and it’s warm outside.
So it probably sat in the laying box and started to develop in the heat because we certainly don’t have any hens that want to sit on their eggs.
So I think this little guy is at day 5.
This was Tuesday
And this is today
I could see it’s little eyes but now its to the point in development where it’s able to move around in the egg and moved its little beady eyes away from the camera. If you’re unsure of what you’re looking at, here’s an arrow pointing straight at the chick.
This is what it currently looks like, even though it wants to hide google will tell its secrets.
The other eggs: not as visible in pictures. Here’s an example:
You see something of course but you can’t see as clearly. But I wanted to show Incase someone’s like “what about the other eggs” and I still believe these eggs are at day 4.
I’ve been doing this the majority of my life and I’m really excited. This incubator I have is really nice. And IMO because of my past experiences I think they all look really healthy and strong. I’m crossing my fingers I get chickens out of this lol
Added: the light does not harm the development of the embryo. They literally have incubators you can buy with built in lights you put the eggs on top of for the entire duration of the incubation process to watch the development of the chicks.
Update: I only have 7 freaking viable eggs 🤣 I weeded out all of the infertile eggs and came out with a total of 7 fertile eggs. That’s okay though, because the incubator I have is so small.
It’s tiny but it’s like it’s on steroids.
