Lost coil

Zahra

Had the Mirena coil put in, in February and wasn’t able to get my checkup due to Coronavirus.

Had bad cramps every night since and bleeding until end of last month.

Just been for an appointment because the cramps are so bad and they weren’t able to find my coil n it hasn’t come out.

What are people’s experience with this?

Any help much appreciated as I won’t lie I’m quite worried! X

They should order and ultrasound if they can't find the strings. If they don't see it on an ultrasound they will order an mri to see where else it could have gone at that point they need to remove it via surgery. If they don't find it on the mri it has expelled your body. I dont have experience with this but this is the procedure for finding it. It sounds like you had a doctor place it wrong thats most likely when it moves/if you're breast feeding. Info is based on the clinical trials. Ive had 2 iuds placed and never had them move. I would find a doctor you trust. Not all know as much as they should about iud placement.
