When can a baby go in the pool?

I’m due early July and was wondering when baby can go in the pool. My first born was born same time but we lived in an apartment with a public pool so I never went down there but now we have a personal above ground pool that we use a lot. Do you think she could go in the pool this season or best to wait next year? Thank you.

I wouldnt take a newborn into a pool their skin is so sensitive and you cant even put sunscreen on them to try and protect it.

You can always try a spot test (like dip feet in) and see how her skin reacts. Just be sure to bath and lotion up baby afterwards too

Depends on the water. I wouldnt take a newborn in a chlorine pool because its harsh on the skin. Public chlorine pools are much harsher than private ones. We have a salt water pool so we took our baby in once we opened it when she was around a month old.

my parents have pics of me in the pool as an infant so lol. although just be sure to watch them super closely. my parents had me wear those baby floaties that help them stay afloat and avoid drinking too much water. also make sure your pool is heated so they don't get too cold :)

Is everyone forgetting that babies when they are young can’t regulate their own body temperature?
Taking a baby who can’t keep heir self warm into a cold pool will drop their temp so fast that it’s not worth the risk. 
This is why when you bathe a newborn you only give them a couple minutes in the infant tub then get them out into a very warm room and dry/dress them quickly.

We live in the south so its common to see newborns in the pool. Just make sure they’re dressed appropriately in protective swim clothes and have a shaded area.
