Does your spouse get you anything for mother's day?

My spouse claims that he shouldn't get me anything nor treat it like a special day because and I quote, "You aren't my Mom". 
His mother passed away a year before he and I met. 
I'm not so petty that I think I deserve anything.  Even a handmade card would be the best thing ever. (Which I'm sure I'll get from my 3 kids.) Or maybe even the recognition from him...or making sure I have a nice day....I don't know. I go out of my way for birthdays and Father's Day and things like that. Maybe I'm wrong for expecting the same thing from him. 
He didn't even realize Mother's Day was tomorrow.  🤦‍♀️ 
And just to clarify, he wouldn't take the kids to get a card because of the hassle. And he doesnt see the point. 🤷‍♀️
Am I being ridiculous?

You need to have a talk with him about this. As the dad it's his job to lead the kids in taking care of you on mothers day. And if that's important to you, you need to tell him.
You can ask if he'd like to do something to honor his mom too for mother's day but that it's really important and you'd really appreciate if he'd take some initiative in making mothers day special for you. How else are the kids going to learn what mothers day is about?

No, you're not being ridiculous. I think partners should celebrate mothers day, because you are the mother of his children, and that is what you are celebrating. Like "thank you for carrying and giving birth to my wonderful children and than you for being a wonderful mother to my children and thank you for being a wonderful and important part of my family and my life"- kind of thing .

I know many of these ladies are saying their SO doesn’t do anything for them on Mother’s Day and they don’t care. Good for them. That doesn’t mean you need to feel the same way. My SO makes sure I’m appreciated all year but it is nice to have one special day to feel extra loved. He takes the brunt of the housework and takes care of the kids that day. He gets me my favorite snacks and lets my relax and watch tv. It’s just nice to feel appreciated on an extra special day. My son is 9 so he always makes me a card. Our daughter is 6 months and I think my SO got me a little something from her this year. I’m sorry your SO is making up excuses not to make the day special for you.

Do the same to him on father's Day. "You're not my dad, why should I get you anything?". Otherwise you can remind him that you're the mother of his children and that's important too. My husband helped organise a gift from my daughter (she's only 16 months, so too little to do anything herself) and is just making sure I have a pleasant day. I don't expect a gift from my husband but the recognition and effort he's put in with her gift is enough ❤️

Last year my fil told off my husband because he didn’t do anything for me and I made my own breakfast with our son.  He then went out with our son and got me something.

Yup, even before we had kids i got presents "from the dogs and cats". Or he'd detail my car or make me breakfast in bed. I think he got me a fitness tracker one year.

We usually go somewhere fun as a family for holidays/ birthdays so we can have memories instead of material items. This year as my gift he bought the travel tailor I wanted so we can have many more memories all summer once covid passes. We’re still on a stay home order until the end of May.

My guess who be that mothers day is a sensitive day for him since his mother passed. Communicate with him about how this makes you feel. But also, not everyone feels the same way about mothers day and fathers day. With the sense of it being a big deal and it being just another hallmark holiday lime Valentines day
