Is it bad that I only pump once a day?

I’m currently breastfeeding my almost 1 month old. I breastfeed at every feeding every 2-4 hours except for once in the mornings when I give him expressed breast milk in a bottle so I can give him vitamin D drops because he doesn’t like them straight in his mouth. So when he uses the bottle I pump. I heard that if you don’t pump often your supply will go down. Is it bad that I’m only pumping once a day? Should I start pumping more often?

We are almost 11months in and I have only pumped a hand full of times. You actually don't HAVE to pump at all so don't worry 😊

I hate pumping so I avoid it at all costs.  It is not necessary to pump to have a successful breastfeeding relationship!  If you are going to give a bottle of breastmilk, you should always pump for that missed feeding to maintain supply.  But otherwise, it’s not necessary!

No, you are doing exactly right. Feeding on demand & pumping when baby takes a bottle. You only need to pump often if your baby takes bottles often.

If your breastfeeding I wouldn’t think your supply would drop. But if you were formula feeding and ONLY pumping that one time with no baby on your breast at any time then yeah your supply would def suffer.

You don’t have to pump at all! You can pump none, once, half, all. Do what works for you and your family. As an FYI if you don’t want to keep pumping- there are vitamin D drops that only require a drop. His pediatrician gave me a sample and told me it’s fine to put them on my nipple during one of his feeds.

No if you’re nursing once a day is fine my lactation consultant pretty much told me not to pump unless I was overflowing.
