2 mattresses in crib?

Koda

Is it safe to put 2 mattresses in a crib for a newborn? I normally use a pack and play bassinet which is nice and high up, and keep it near my bed. I sit up in bed and reach in to pick up the baby and feed them in bed with me.

Thinking a crib would look nicer this time with baby #2 but I'm afraid the mattress will be too low down (even on the highest setting) and make it harder in the middle of the night.

Would it be safe to put two mattresses on top of eachother in the crib to make it a little higher up? Of course I won't make it too high, not in a way that the baby could fall out.

Has anyone ever done this, has the AAP said anything about this specifically?
