Did I expect too much!?

This day for Mother’s Day all I wanted was my husband to write me a handwritten letter nothing else and I even told him in case he was clueless it would ment a lot to me if he wrote me a long letter and all I got was me reminding him on Mother’s Day and he saying he “wrote it” and it was 2 sentences long and on the phone and he didn’t even sent it to me he just posted it on Facebook before I even read it and I didn’t want it to be shared I wanted an intimate letter then he got mad at me for ruining the day when I wasn’t thrilled at his gift, I don’t know I guess I was just expecting too much and I know we have kids but he has time to play video games which is fine but not even make alittle time to write me a letter

It’s one thing when someone wants to write a letter to their spouse because they chose to independently, without being told. It’s another to put someone on the spot and ask them to write you a “long letter.” Gifts are better when they’re given freely, not when they’re expected and forced.

Not everyone can write a LONG letter that is emotional. I personally think you asked for something out of his comfort zone and out of his personal ability then got shitty Because it wasn't what you wanted it to be which is incredibly selfish. I wouldn't get my so anything if I felt forced to do it which you definitely have done. You're the one who ruined your own mother's day but want to blame him. I think you owe him an apology for acting like a brat

I feel she is right to be upset I mean we all act like we don’t want anything but the truth is we do, don’t be so judgemental she’s probably already upset, we need to support us women,and Mother’s Day is to celebrate all moms and wives included

Hey, I’m sorry to hear this happened! I know it’s disappointing when your partner doesn’t follow through with something that is so meaningful to you! That being said, it’s inherently important to understand your partner’s love language, how they best receive love and how they best give it. Same goes for them being aware about yours. Sounds like you best receive love through words of affirmation but its probably safe to say that this is not how he is most comfortable showing love to you. It’s nothing personal, everyone is different. He might be more comfortable giving gifts, that’s a common way to show love. I encourage you to reflect and think of how you best receive/give love and then have a conversation with him to understand where he’s coming from. Hopefully you’ll come to a common understanding and be more gracious and flexible in your kind gestures. Best of luck moving forward! :)

Maybe he's not particularly good at writing or just isn't good at putting his feelings down on paper. It's hard for some people, especially with the added pressure of expectation. I am a writer, but I would probably develop the worst case of writer's block ever if my husband came to me and said, "A long love letter written by you is the only thing that will satisfy me." I am 1000% certain that I wouldn't be able to string three words together under that kind of pressure, let alone write a whole letter. There's something to be said for spontaneity when it comes to letters of that nature. They can't really be forced. I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted, but I understand why he may not have felt comfortable with your request.
