Reducing Work
Mamas!
We aren't pregnant yet with #2 but we are in the process of our transfer protocol and let me tell you, I am ALREADY exhausted. I wake up between 4 and 5 am 4 days a week to work, so that I'm off by 2 or 3 and have some time with my son before dinner. My husband is our childcare right now during the day and he works maybe 2hr/day during the week. The other 3 days/week I get up with our son (between 6 and 7 usually). My husband tries to let me sleep in 1 day a week and gets up with our son, but since I've been waking up so early to work I don't sleep in much past 6 anyway.
Our son just turned 1 and is having trouble with peeing through his diapers at night. This is a product of us reducing the formula his nighttime bottles. He's never been much of a sound sleeper and it has been easier on us to give him a bottle rather than get up out of bed and rock him back down. My husband wears glasses/contacts and can't see at night without them. My vision is perfect, so I have been the one getting up to change our sons outfits and diapers at night.
I make maybe an extra $100/paycheck more than my husband, so we are on a pretty level playing field there.
I am thinking since I'm so tired already, if I get pregnant with #2, and especially after the next baby is born, that tired is going to increase 10 fold. My work currently offers 16 weeks paid maternity, so I don't really WANT to reduce my hours or quit, but have any of you been able to reduce your hours at an office type job and supplement with any other income that was easier to do while home with kiddos? If so, what do you do and what hours are you able to make it work?
