Baby #2 Talk?

Question

So my husband and I have been talking about when we want to have a second baby (actually planned the next time lol) our little guy now wasn’t planned, but a blessing. He wants another one in two years, but I’m leaning more towards 4 years. For you mommas of multiples or have had the second baby, what age difference do you recommend or has worked the best for you? 
For now just enjoying our time as an only child with our little guy 🤍

My girls are 3 years apart. The cons are it led to a serious potty regression that we are still dealing with and it was an emotional reaction for her to not be an only child anymore. She had some outbursts and got clingy to her dad but that’s sweet in a way. The pros are my 3 yr old loves her sister so much, she is happy to help and capable of helping. My baby is amazed by her sister, she is entertained just watching her run around lol. I hope they will grow up and remain close like my sister and I did (we are 3 yrs apart).
My friend has a 6 yr old boy and baby girl. He had a very brief potty regression and some emotional turmoil but being older he handled it better. He’s more independent so it isn’t as hard when the baby gives her trouble because he can do more on his own. Idk how close they will be with such an age gap, but maybe they will be best buds as adults, who knows?
Neither of us have any regrets, we did what was right for our families.

We started trying for our second when first was a little over 2. She was mostly potty trained, mostly weaned, and could talk well. I think it’s a good age gap, she was young enough to not resent the change in family dynamics and old enough to be fully out of baby and toddler stuff by the time he was born (she was about 3 and a quarter when he was born).

So my son will be 3 this month and my daughter is 5 months. So they are 2.5 years apart. It’s both nice but also frustrating. He’s a big help but obviously a 2 almost 3 year old can only help so much. He loves his sister. He plays with her, Talks to her, and always wants to know where she’s at and be a part of caring for her. All that being said, it hasn’t been easy. I’m in the process of potty training my son, dealing with a baby who still doesn’t sleep at night, a toddler who doesn’t listen for shit but I can’t jump up as quickly to turn his attention elsewhere because I’m doing something with the baby. I do have to say, I definitely don’t hold and snuggle my daughter as much as I did my son. Not because I don’t want too but I am so busy now being a mom of two and can’t have all my focus on one. I personally wouldn’t change the timing we choose at all. Because this is what worked for us and our life. I don’t have any other kids so I don’t know if a bigger age gap is usually easier but I would think it probably would be since kids a bit older are a little more independent.

My second was born a few weeks after my first turned 2.  It's tough, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.  I personally wouldn't want a larger gap and feel like I was "starting over."

My daughter just turned 4yrs. It’s perfect in my opinion. She helps with her, rarely gets frustrated with the baby, plays nicely with her and most importantly is able to entertain herself when I really need her to so I can focus on what the baby is needing.

So my two are 15 months apart. 
The plan was to start trying after my daughter turned one year. Things did not go according to plan 😂
Honestly the whole pregnancy the thought of having 2 so close together overwhelmed me. And I felt like I wasn’t going to be able to give my daughter enough one on one attention. 
But things are great. Yes it can get overwhelming. But she loves her baby brother so much and he loves her. And I think it was easier to do newborn stuff again because I had just done it a year ago. So the adjustment was easier. 
For us I truly think God had the perfect plan because I never would e planned it like this for myself but now both my husband and I agree that having 2 so close seems to fit our family perfectly.

So I only have the one, but I am 4.5 years older than my brother. My mom always said this was ideal because I was helpful and could listen to directions. Even as we got older it was helpful - I got my license and could cart my little brother around to karate, track practice, etc. 
Speaking only from the sibling side: I think it was ideal for us as siblings as well. We were far enough apart that we never competed, we each had our own things and our own friends. But still close enough in age to form a strong bond. I’m now 33 and my brother is 29, and he is one of my best friends and favorite people. My son’s middle name is my brother’s first name. In non-covid times we see each other about once every other week, usually for lunch since our offices are not far apart. If we were closer in age I’m not sure we would have been as close as we are - it is just a different dynamic.

My kids are 3 years 9 months apart I got BFP the day after my oldest 3rd birthday. My oldest was a little jealous for the first month or so. She too had potty regression￼￼ witch was shocking because she had been potty trained since she was 2. On the bright side that was just a phase they love each other and my oldest is very helpful￼￼.
