My ex is texting me again

After a year my ex started texting me again and send photos of us, telling me he has kept everyone of them, telling me how beautiful I am thing like that. He hasnt said anything inappropriate. He’s just text and then we start talking for hours. Nothing sexual just chatting. He says he enjoys it, the conversations etc.

Reason why we broke up:

He had cheated on me with a girl from work and I found out after the break up, he broke up with me said it wasn’t working out, then after I found out why, he was seeing this girl from work, he apologized and we never really spoke again, they were together but I don’t think they are together anymore.

We don’t live no where close to each other.

I really don’t know what it means if he’s just checking on me or what I’m confused as hell and I nee help.
