Delivery at 25 weeks
Hi ladies! I was using this group for support and updates for my baby boy that was due 25 August, so I thought I’d share my birth story. Last week, when I was at 25w1d, a 14cm cyst on my right ovary ruptured and sent me to the hospital. The docs saw the baby’s heart rate was dropping fast so they performed an emergency c-section. Baby Arwin was born 1lb, 7oz, and transferred to a Japanese Hospital NICU (I’m an active duty marine stationed just outside of Tokyo).
I was knocked out for the whole procedure and when I woke up the baby was already gone. I didn’t get to see him for three days until I was finally discharged from the hospital. I’ve been recovering well from the surgery and Arwin has been doing really well (relatively speaking, he’s so tiny). It’s a miracle that he’s doing so well. It’s a long road ahead and I only can see him every other day for an hour which is emotionally difficult. I never thought I’d miss being pregnant but I certainly wouldn’t wish these circumstances on anyone. Instead of the Glow due date countdown giving me an idea of when I’ll deliver it’s now a countdown for when I might be able to take Arwin out of the NICU.
I wish you all the best in the rest of your pregnancy. Cherish each moment! Also get your sleep on now. As a first time mom I’ve turned into a zombie from pumping every 3-4 hours.
