Tips for a first time home buyer!

So me and my fiancé are looking to move into a house, finally. We’ve been renting for the last 2 years now and finally are ready to own. Our lease is up in November so that is 6 months from now, and we hope to be in a home by then. I was hoping if any of you home owners or previous home owners have any tips for us! How much money should we have saved?

What type of mortgage loan should we apply for?

Would you rather get a loan from a bank or mortgage lender companies ?

Is it better to be married before applying for a mortgage

**We live in Michigan and our budget is about $100,000-150,000 since this is our starter home. Here this is a very reasonable price for a home and the payments should be around $900-1000 a month
