How to get baby to take a pacifier?

Six week old spits out all pacifiers we’ve tried lots of different brands shapes sizes etc. as soon as I put one in his mouth his tongue pushes it out instantly. My oldest never took one either and I would really like for this baby to take one. I’m currently just putting one back in his mouth over and over right now trying to kind of train him but it’s getting frustrating. Tips?￼

Does the baby neeed the pacifier?
If they don’t want it, why push it?

Dip the nipple in gripe water. My family hated me for doing it, but I preferred to do that over giving him a full dose in a syringe. He was literally getting one drop and it soothed him for hours. Gripe water is organic fennel extract and I think lemon extract. It’s all natural, and harmless, especially if he’s getting just one drop here and there.

Some babies don’t like pacifiers. My youngest never liked them and would immediately spit them out and she didn’t really like the bottle nipples either so we would never drink from a bottle she wanted it straight from the source. But my oldest he loved the pacifier it got to the point where I had to get rid of them all when he got too old for them and that was not easy

My LO wouldn't take one until 3 months. I didn't push it but I preferred a soother over thumb sucking. He started taking it when he was half or mostly asleep and then every nap time he would take it fine after that.

You can try slipping it in when he’s done nursing but still on the boob, didn’t work for mine but it works for some. My baby won’t take them either, hates anything silicone or rubber in his mouth.

Maybe try a different type of soother. My son wouldn’t take the generic soother. So we got one of the Nuk brand soothers, they are sort of contoured and it may also be to big for their mouth, or even to hard. Before giving the soother ensure they’ve had the full feed they need considering you’re breastfeeding! Good luck. Soothers can be such a pain.
