Who is going to watch your other kids while your in labor?? Specifically long distance from family.

Question

So... I’m having some anxiety about who is going to watch my 3 year old daughter when I have her sister in August. My husband and I just moved to a new location in the U.S. and luckily it is closer to family but still about 4-4.5 hours away. We haven’t made any trustworthy friends in the area and my mom said she wants to come down to watch her. 
With my first I had her in 10 hours at 38 weeks... 
do you think my mama will make it in time for us to get to the hospital(which is 35 minutes away)? 
Do any of you relate to this situation? And what are you going to do? Should I find a back up babysitter in the area. 
I’ve been staying home because of Covid and my work place isn’t open... and I’m nervous to bring someone I don’t know into the home....

We moved far from family and our hospital is an hour away :( I’ve been stressing over this too.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd we lived 10 hours away from my family. My in laws lived 5 minutes from the hospital but refused to help us. 😒
Anyway, my OB had me set up to be induced at 39 weeks to give my parents a set time to come all the way up to watch the kids. However, Our son decided to come early at 38 weeks! Lol We had  NO ONE so we had no choice but to bring our 5 & 2 year old to L&D with us. Labor was quick & uneventful. I got the epidural so no yelling or anything dramatic. It was a very chill experience!

Im nervous about this too. I have a 3 year old and 17month old. My mom lives over an hour away and my mil doesnt drive. 😩 I really dont want to be at the hospital alone. Im thinking of asking my mil to stay with us towards the end of my pregnancy since she doesnt work.

Maybe have a sitter on call to watch your daughter until your mom can get there.

So with my daughter my mom was in the delivery room and she stayed with us for a week she is 45 minutes away from our home but about 20 from the hospital and my mom and dad will be watching our daughter when we go in for our son (unless this stuff eases up by then and I can have my daughter and my mom and S/O in the room we’d be thrilled) so if anything she can meet us at the hospital and we will hand off our daughter. I know you said your mom is overbearing but if you have no one else to trust wouldn’t it be worth it? Or is she really that much? I dont know her so it’s just a suggestion! 😁

Me personally, I have family that live down the street so my mom & sister will be watching my daughter but if I was in your shoes, I’d have my mom come down and stay the last few weeks with me in case I went early. Is that not an option?

I would find a babysitter in the area that you trust. I have my family here, but my mother proved to be overbearing when I had my first, and my MIL was a L&D nurse and has been overbearing the whole pregnancy. I asked a lady I went to church with to come pick up my daughter whenever the time comes, so that we don’t have to deal with family until we’re ready.
