Would you or do you put your education before your child? Ex. You have a report due and class (online), would you send your child away for a couple of days for you to finish that report?

My “sister in-law” always puts her education before her child(2 YR old) and there’s rarely any compromise. It’s not my child so I have no say in how she raises her kid but I personally would put my child before education or at least compromise my priorities a little. Am I wrong ? I’m just trying to get a better understanding from her point of view.
