Any of you mamas have an IUD or are thinking about getting one? I’m really considering getting one but I want to hear pros and cons.

Im on my second Paraguard. Learn the difference between mirena and paraguard before you pick one. Insertion pain is totally a wildcard based on how your uterus is folded up and there is nothing they can do to change it. They will examine you beforehand and if it’s folded the painful way they might offer you some medication. My first insertion was a breeze, the second one was moderately painful. Still totally worth it imho. For my first one my period was way heavier the first few months then it was back to normal. Worth it for no hormones imho.

I have the mirina i got it about 2 months ago and i still haven’t stopped bleeding😭 it’s like a heavy period bleed my dr said it could take 4-6 months for it to stop or more depending on my body. I’m thinking of having it removed honestly

I got the mirena and love it!!! Didn’t hurt going in and just some mild cramps for the next 24hrs. I did spot off and on for probably a month but no period since. I am also breast feeding though.

Ive had the mirena for about 3 months now and i have mixed feelings. Ive been extremely emotional (but i think that could still be my body trying to get back to normal after pregnancy) , I havent had a "normal" period its just been spotting and stringy mucusy looking stuff. I get more cramps then usual and i swear when im starting what little period i do get my vagina HURTS. Also certain sex positions cause discomfort. 
But its not all that bad 🤷‍♀️ the insertion was pain free for me.  i like that i dont have to take a pill everyday, and i also like that i dont have a heavy period. i havent noticed any weight gain like some b.c causes.

I’ve had the paraguard since 6 weeks pp and I love it so far. I’ve had 0 issues, but my period only returned just last month. But I still had my regular no cramps super light 4 day period as I did before pregnancy 🤷🏼‍♀️ I recommend it, or at least any type of IUD

With the paragard you still get a period because it has no hormones. That’s why I got the Mirena. Spotted on and off for maybe 6 weeks? Nothing terrible. Since then absolutely no issues whatsoever (knock on wood) and no period.

I got the Paraguard after my first baby. Inserting it was a nightmare (didn’t insert correctly, had to see a specialist who moved it into place with a camera). After that it was okay until she weaned from nursing.... I got my period back, then had a period every other week for 6m straight. Horrific heavy & so painful. Had it removed bc of this... and my body went back to normal. I’ll never get another one again.
