So my husband I were at his parents house when he made a joke around the lines of “Wish you’d get pretty for me” and I said “That’s rude” his dad starts yelling out “Did you hear what he said? He thinks your ugly” over and over. My husband didnt say anything, his sister was finally the one to say that’s enough. My husband doesn’t see anything wrong with the situation because ‘it was just a joke’ He knows I already have super low self esteem and i’m kind of hurt he didn’t stand up for me and put an end to it? It really hurt and I was so embarrassed my husband would even think it’s okay to make a joke like that. We’ve fought about it all night because he thinks there’s no reason i should be upset over a joke. Am I overreacting?
