Labor/ forced by doctors?

Okay so let me give a little info.
I have a heart condition. At first they were saying no epidural. But now my cardiologist approved it and my OB is forcing me to get it. I’m not against the epidural at all!!! In fact I’ll probably be begging for it in all reality. But I’m against the fact that they want my on an ekg the whole time. Meaning skin to skin will be surrounded by wires. 
Can they force me into the epidural and ekg the whole time?! Does this mean they can force a c-section?. I feel so controlled. 
I’m just slightly terrified they have been so forceful about it....

I’d say you need to just suck it up. You don’t need your heart to stop. You need to be monitored

Not sure what heart condition you have but if they recommend being on a cardiac monitor, it’s probably worth doing.  
No one can “force” you to do anything per-say but sounds like they are strongly encouraging reasonable things to help care for you.

You shouldn’t be forced into an epidural but you certainly need to be hooked up to the EKG if they say so. Nothing different than let’s say a blood pressure cuff that they keep on.

It sounds like they are doing everything they deem necessary to insure you live for your baby. I would just chill and let them do what they have trained for years for.

There’s only 5 stickers/wires for heart monitoring. Seems worth it to make sure you’re ok

I understand your feeling; my small daughter has a heart defect and i feel at times a lot was robbed of me as her mother when she was born. I know it’s a reverse situation but when you feel “controlled” just remind yourself that none of these medical professionals want to control you; they are doing and making decisions based of what is best for you and your child. If something rubs you the wrong way, just ask for an explanation or ask to discuss it and it may make the situation more clear or they may be willing to compromise.

An EKG really isn’t invasive at all. It sounds like they’re trying to keep you and the baby safe. I think you need to suck it up and do what your doctor is recommending.

You can’t be forced to do anything. They can strongly recommend all they want, but in the end, it’s your body and your choice. Get a second opinion if you want. I changed OBs at 30 weeks because mine was very anti-VBAC and was forcing me to have another csection.

I'll be giving birth in ICU attached to ECG  leads as well, you're not alone there. The positioning of the leads didn't interfere with skin to skin when I had my daughter, and when you see their tiny face you kind of forget they're there anyway
