How do you cleanse your scalp

So after I wash my hair I notice my scalp still smells like sweat and even mildewy and I’m wondering how can I clean my scalp so it doesn’t smell? I have used apple cider vinegar to cleanse it before and I would prefer not to do that again because it made my hair smell like it for weeks so if someone else has a different remedy besides apple cider vinegar that would help me a lot thank you 😊
