Infertility is a lonely, frustrating and isolating experience. It’s hard to open up and share your struggles with friends because there is still so much judgement. People automatically assume that you are doing something wrong that is inhibiting nature from taking its course. I guarantee that is not the case. Infertility warriors have done so much research and become experts on the reproductive system, how their bodies work, and tried everything proven to make an impact. In fact, we’ve usually tried many old wives tales that don’t actually help just so we cover our bases in case there is a shred of truth to them! Infertility is a medical diagnosis, and in most cases there was nothing we could have done to prevent the condition. I know I couldn’t change when in life I found the man with whom I wanted to start a family. I can’t change that my uterus’ timing to allow an embryo to implant doesn’t match up with the schedule of when most embryos develop. I’m not asking for sympathy, I’m asking for action in the future. What we can do, is recognize that there are over 6 million people in the US who require some kind of fertility assistance to start their family. Even though it’s a medical diagnosis treated through medical means, most of those couples do not have coverage for this condition in their medical insurance. Just as the stigmas around infertility need to change, so does the available support. Many states are making changes and requiring that employers offer insurance plans that include fertility coverage, but many others are lagging behind the times. If your state is considering adding mandatory insurance options that offer fertility treatment, please do what you can to support it. Even if having additional coverage plans won’t help you directly, I guarantee they will help several people who you know! #NIAW2020 #ivfmama #ivfbaby #ivfbabyonboard #ivfsuccess #pregnancyafterinfertility #ivf #ivfjourney #myivfjourney #thisisivf #ivfstrongertogether #ivfsupport #ivfsisters #ivfcommunity #1in8 #infertilityawareness #infertility #infertilitysucks #ttc #ttcsisters #ttcwarrior #ttcjourney #infertilityuncovered #fertilityjourney
