Hi mamas! I’m a total cloth diaper noob and want to make sure I’m doing everything right before I begin my journey.

I’ve read a lot about washing diapers and have a few questions...

1. Do you prewash inserts along with the diapers? Or do you add them into the main wash?

2. Do you use detergent in both the pre and main wash cycles? If so, how much do you use for each cycle? (I have soft water, thinking about using seventh generation)

3. I have very basic settings on my old top loader washing machine. Would I wash the diapers on the casual press hot cycle? (Picture of my washing machine below)

4. Does anyone know why 2 cycles are necessary? Would spraying off the diaper prior to washing count as a “prewash?”
