Triple positive antiphospholipid syndrome?
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing as well as you can during this time.
Today I received some pretty devastating news during my consult with maternal fetal medicine about the antiphospholipid syndrome that I was diagnosed with a little bit ago
He basically told me that most people who meet criteria for Antiphospholipid syndrome only need to have a high score on one of the tests, but I have apparently scored high on all three measures, which puts me in a "special category" of the disorder called Triple positive Antiphospholipid Syndrome.
With this special category, that would make my pregnancy extremely high-risk and he quoted the two limited studies that he could find that said that there is a 70% chance that if I do get pregnant and try carrying it to term, it will be either still born, extremely low weight, and/ or I'll develop preeclampsia severely (this is with the low dose aspirin and injection treatment). Basically, he was saying that there's only a 30% chance that it will be without problems.
Has anyone had this form of Antiphospholipid syndrome and tried for pregnancy? Any stories of hope out there? Thanks in advance!
Lisa
