Bug spray & Sun Block?

Question

FTM and just doing my research - when is it safe to use any products for bug spray or sun block? And what products do you like the best. Anytime we are out - he is always covered and in shade, but just for future reference I want to make sure we are protecting our little guy the most with summer around the corner! Thanks in advance!!

I have already used sunscreen. It says 6 months plus but she’s 5 months. What’s another month. I’d rather her protected..

I have used babyganics sunscreen a few times already even though she isn’t quite 6 months yet. I also used bug spray for the first time yesterday and from everything I have read bug spray with 5-7% deet is the best and most effective. I just sprayed some on my hands and rubbed it on her arms, legs and feet. My biggest concern is ticks since we are in upstate NY and I don’t want to risk any of the illnesses related to tick bites. I use Cutter Skinsations.

We use the babyganics.  Used it once a couple of weeks ago before I realized your supposed to wait until 6 months.  She seemed fine but will wait a couple more weeks before using again just to be safe

Doctor said it’s safe to use sunscreen before 6 months, just had to be mineral based. I only use mineral based myself because it doesn’t stain clothes.  Not sure about bug spray though, it has come up yet 😳

Our pediatrician gave us samples of blue lizard to try. Haven’t tried it yet but she said she likes it best for babies. No advice on bug spray haven’t asked about that yet
