I want to make sure I do everything right!

Hi Glofriends!

I just got my very first BFP and I am over the moon with a range of emotions!

I really want to make sure I do everything I can to keep myself and baby healthy during this pregnancy. Now reading everything I can, I want to make sure I’m transitioning into a better, healthier lifestyle to avoid any complications during this pregnancy.

I have a higher BMI and am considered “overweight” and have high BP whenever I go to the doctors. (Which I chalk up to white coat syndrome in the moment because I am only 24 years old) I’ve never been officially “diagnosed” but I am concerned it could cause issues with baby.

Ive read it’s not good to try and “lose” weight during pregnancy. Just to make sure you’re walking daily.

Can I though? What kind of diets are okay to do while pregnant? What other things should I be doing to make sure my pregnancy goes smoothly and I can avoid high BP these next 8 months?
