Birth story, part 2
I tried labour inducing gelato and failed to have a baby on the ‘right’ time.
I still had another day left - September 4th - the only day my midwife would be on call before she leaves the town.
If I didn’t want someone who I’ve just met helping me to give a birth, I had to have a baby that day.
At noon, my contractions began.
⠀
I dialled the birthing center’ number and told them I am about to pop.
Then I called our medical clinic and scheduled an appointment with family doctor because he would have a new patient to take soon.
I asked my husband to come home and started to track my contractions.
At 20:50, the interval between contractions dropped from seven minutes to four.
At 22:08 three of us - my husband, my midwife and I - came to the birthing center, and there was not a single soul inside.
I picked a room where I wanted to have my baby.
⠀
I laid down on the bed for a while, and when the time came, I moved to a warm bathtub.
At 22:55 my baby girl has arrived into this world.
⠀
I wouldn’t say that giving birth was a pleasure. But it turned out to be the best experience it could possibly become.
The best part of it was that it all was exactly as I pictured it: no strangers, peaceful sense of intimacy, perfect day and a perfect time.
Later, I was wondering, how did I fit in this tight timeline that I had?
And it occurred to me, that I possibly did induced my labour - without knowing that. Guess what I was doing right before my contractions started that afternoon?😃
