Are missed miscarriages common?

Are missed miscarriages common? Or is it more common that when the fetus passes that you show signs of miscarriage within a couple days?

Answer

I would say equal commonality. It seems like a passed embryo is usually before 8 weeks and a missed miscarriage is often between the 6-12 weeks. No signs for a missed miscarriage. Basically any form of miscarriage is about 1 in 4 before 12 weeks. If you get a heartbeat after 10 weeks you are pretty much in the clear for most forms of miscarriage. (I know two people with missed miscarriages identified at 9/10wks and two people with passed embryo at 6 weeks). Wishing you luck.

It’s so unfortunate. I went in for my 11 week ultrasound and there was no heart beat. Tech said the baby had stopped growing at 9 weeks. I never had any bleeding or cramping and I still had all my symptoms. We also heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks. I was completely shocked when they told me our baby had passed. My d&c was scheduled for 3 days later, and even on that day I still had not bled..currently prego with our rainbow and I’m terrified because I know everything can look and feel fine but still not be guaranteed.

The chance of a missed miscarriage is very low, about 1% of miscarriages. Much more common youd know. My ultrasound tech who had been at my OB office for like 10 years had only had 2 before mine.

My best friend (aunt) had a missed miscarriage, went for her 12 week scan and baby's heartbeat had stopped at 8 weeks. It is not as common but it does happen.

I had 2 missed miscarriage back to back 2018 and feb 14 2020 mi first one never heard the heartbeat and my second one we did i was measuring 16 weeks when i when to my appt and they told me that the baby heartbeat beat stop 2 days before my appt so it was measuring on time and they conseder t miscarriage

There are no signs of a missed miscarriage. Also, I think it’s rare. I worry about that type of thing almost daily but as long as I feel him moving I feel better
