To boil pacifier, or just wash before first use?

I don’t want to be old school & still boil them if it’s not necessary, but I don’t feel hospitals boil all their paci’s so why should I? I need suggestions ladies please...i apologize in advance if I sound like a moron for considering not doing it.

I have bought a travel sterilizer for them. It doesn't require water or any tablets etc, it has  UV light inside to sterilize on the go x

I boiled everything for my first baby..this is my third and I'll just be throwing that stuff in the dishwasher lol

Wow this is my third child and I had no idea sterilizing pacis was even a thing. I was told and gave read you don’t need to sterilize bottles so I assumed you didn’t need to for pacis. I just wash with warm soapy water for first use and then rinse if needed until I replace them every month or two.

Most come with a little microwave sterilization pod. I do that before first use and if they start to get gross.

I have a table top sterilizer and I have a small uv sterilizer for on the go. This is my 4th baby and I still prefer to sterilize everything. It's just my preference. I know people who dont sterilize anything and they seem fine.

I love my microwave sterilizer. If we are ready to run a load of dishes I will put them in the dishwasher but my sterilizer holds 4 bottles, rings, and, nipples and it only takes 4 minutes so definitely much quicker than a dishwasher cycle. I put my pacifiers in, too. Just watch if they aren't one piece water can get stuck inside and you'll get mold. We switched to one piece pacifiers with my oldest and they have been great! We already ordered a pack for #2 in case he is a pacifier baby, too.

I boiled all the pacis, bottles, and misc. Parts for both my boys and plan to do so with this pregnancy. 
Hospitals definitely sterilize those items as well.

Hmm I never really thought about this before I was just gonna wash but I bought a microwave steam sterilizer for bottles I’ll probably put them in there.

I think hospitals sterilize everything, just not by boiling anymore.
There are many different kinds of sterilizers, for pacifiers I liked the simple steaming in the microwave. (My first never took to them but we always had a few at the ready just in case.)
I bought them with a traveling holder that also doubled as a sterilizing pot, with markings on the side to make measuring water easier. The packaging gave instructions on what to set on the microwave, and I looked up if it was a thing just the producer recommended or if it was actually a good solution - it's safe, it works, and it's easy!
Just be careful to only put things in there that can take that heat. I ruined a clipper accidentally when I forgot to take it off of the pacifier.
